Form 11 (Notices of Assessment) for 2009 for those properties whose assessed value has changed from the previous year will be mailed out at the end of February 2010.  If there was no change in assessment, you will not receive a new Form 11.  You have 45 days from the date of the Form 11 to file an appeal of this assessment.

Please remember that these notices are for the assessment year 2009. It states the assessed value of your property as of March 1, 2009. The Assessor’s office has to use the ratio study that was done and approved by the Department of Local Government Finance. You can review the study at this link:        http://www.in.gov/dlgf/files/RATIO_STUDY_SHELBY_2009.pdf

The sales used to generate the 2009 assessments are primarily from January 1, 2007 to March 2, 2008.
