Form 11’s (Notices of Assessment) for 2008 were mailed out on August 19, 2009. Except for the area that is in the 47234 zip code. At this time the assessor’s office will not mail out the forms for that area. The taxpayer will use the Tax bill as the form 11 and only the parcels that are in the 47234 zip code area will have 45 working days from the date of the tax bill to file for an appeal of their assessment. The deadline for all other 2008 appeals is October 20, 2009.
Please remember that these notices are for the assessment year 2008. It states the assessed value of your property as of March 1, 2008. The Assessor’s office has to use the ratio study that was done and approved by the Department of Local Government Finance. The sales used to generate the 2008 assessments are primarily from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007.
