Supervision Transfers

If you’re an attorney or client, start the preapproval process prior to sentencing.

All supervision transfers, in county and out of county, pay a transfer fee and are subject to approval.

All documents (see below) can be emailed to Brittany Fannin at bfannin@co.shelby.in.us  or dropped off with the front desk.

Transferring Supervision Into Shelby County:

Transferring Supervision to Another County:

  • Pay Transfer fee of $380
  • Residency within Shelby County
  • Have verifiable employment
  • File (including sentencing order, probable cause, police report, PSI) sent to Brittany Browning
  • Pay $150 transfer fee
  • Submit a copy of sentencing order or plea agreement to our office by email or in-person
  • Fill out pre-approval information form
  • Transfers are subject to approval by the county you’re wishing to transfer to

For all supervision sign-ups and transfers, you should report to Community Corrections immediately upon sentencing. In most cases, you are required to complete sign-ups by a court’s compliance hearing. Failing to report on time could result in a change of placement being filed.

Community Transition Program (CTP)

Community Transition Program

  • Re-entry program for DOC-released inmates
  • Court-ordered program with GPS equipment and 24/7 monitoring and supervision
  • Case management component is based upon a two-tiered level system and IRAS risk level*
  • Bi-weekly contact standards at minimum
  • Participants MUST have local and pre-approved housing
  • Participants MUST have reasonable employment prospects

Recovery Support Supervision Program Agreement

  • Court ordered Recovery Home participation (minimum of 6 months)
  • GPS equipment and 24/7 monitoring and supervision
  • Special condition of Probation
  • Containment Team Meetings with Recovery Home and Case Manager
  • Intensive case management component
  • Contact standards coordinated between Recovery Home and Case Manager

Forensic Diversion

Forensic Diversion Program

  • Court-ordered program designed for adults with mental illness, addictive disorder(s), or both, who have been charged with a non-violent crime
  • Case management component and contact standards are based upon three-tiered level system and IRAS risk level*
  • Must have mental illness, addictive disorder(s), or both
  • Must participate in program for minimum 12-18 months
  • Must attend community-based substance abuse or mental health treatment
  • No drug dealing or violent offenses (no violent offenses in the past ten years)

Sex Offender Management Program
  • Court-ordered program with mandatory Sex Offender treatment provided though an outside agency
  • GPS component for a minimum of 180 days
  • Case management component and contact standards are based upon a level system, IRAS risk level*, and STATIC and STABLE assessment evaluations

Vivitrol Program
  • Court-ordered and/or Prosecutor-approved program designed to provide intensive supervision of and treatment for opiate-addicted individuals
  • Must have minimum of 1 year of time in which to participate
  • Must have current history of opiate addiction (acknowledged or gathered through collateral information)
  • Must reside in Shelby County or have the ability to work with the approved provider for this program
  • Protocol for Referral – Contact Melissa Gharst mgharst@co.shelby.in.us so that she may conduct an assessment and determine appropriateness for the program

Jail Intervention Program

Shelby County Jail Intervention Program

  • Court-ordered, prosecutor approved, and/or Probation/Community Corrections program sanction designed to provide intensive supervision of and treatment for drug/alcohol-addicted individuals.
  • 90 days in jail
  • 90-180 days outside of jail with Community Corrections
  • Case management component and contact standards based upon Community Corrections protocols and JIP standard rules and conditions
  • Protocol for Referral – Contact Melissa Gharst mgharst@co.shelby.in.us so that she may conduct an assessment and determine appropriateness for the program

  • Report to Community Mental Health Center (Gallahue) for treatment assessments

 *Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS) is utilized for every incoming participant, as applicable, and scores are then used to determine risk, need, and responsivity factors for each.
